The cinema was packed, not only because it was Vodaphone two for one night, but we all went to see The King's Speech.
Those who were buried alive or drowned falling into their buckets of popcorn or gallons of Coca Cola missed a film that was so good that many people even turned off their Blackberrys - or should that be Blackberries? The girl who sat in front of us was operating two such pieces of equipment simultaneously: she could have been ringing herself as she was a big girl.
Colin Firth should win an Oscar for a performance that had us trying to help him with his words. The whole cast was superb.
Afterwards we went over the road to Frankie & Benny's which was also packed and where the service is an example to all as to the way customers should be served. There should be an Oscar for the entire cast of F & B's, but especially for the young waiter who in dealing with our bill ignored our ages when asking:
"Are you going on somewhere?"
At 85 and 82, where is there to go on to at night?
I should have asked him; he probably would have had a recommendation!
