This is a view of the 18th green from a bedroom of The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Cheshire. Even for non golfers it is an interesting view. If you would like to see what some of the houses on the other side of the Mere look like, just peer through the trees. A mere house is probably an understatement.
But where sportsmen and women (if you can spot them) have to contend with hills and humps and water, lesser mortals may enjoy the views created there for the sole purpose of annoying golfers.
And what is more, you may enjoy the civilised aspects of a Golf Resort along with the golfers who must practice so assiduously in the vain search for perfection.
And for those who think they have reached the pinnacle, there is a word of advice hanging on the bedroom wall!
