Sometimes you can be lucky to visit a place when the sights are as you might imagine. Such a place was Tatton Park in Cheshire this week when the rhododendrons were at their peak.
Here the work of years provides beautiful vistas of white and red against a backdrop of many shades of green provided by great trees and lawns.
Produced by nature, transformed by man, even trees are transformed into great sculptures that could be monsters from another planet.
And were the carnivorous venomous plants of John Wyndham's "The Day of the Triffids" depicted in this drawing really from his imagination, or perhaps real and still reproducing here in Tatton by the waterside.

Lest you think my imagination fertile, take a look at these creatures of Beatrix Potter found but a few steps from these strange plants.
And is it wise to take the children up this mysterious jungle-like path where no ending can be seen from here?
Or, are there Pterodactyls perhaps here amid the undergrowth?
And what or who has spirited away the lawn mower man?
Tatton's the place to go; but is it the place to stay?
