Welcome to spring?

This is the village of Evenly in Northamptonshire on the borders of  Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire

and this is where you can see early signs of spring in mid February, like these winter aconites in Evenly Wood Garden -

which look like this close-up.

or crocus lifting the misty background with a touch of pastel colour.

But this is what most people come to see at this time of the year - snowdrops.

The fast flowing stream adds to the attraction

even though it makes for some muddy walking in places, but where even here daffodils are showing.

There is a typical (?) English pub in the village where you would hope to find refreshment, but where us poor old folk were denied a bowl of soup because all the tables were booked, which in view of the number of empty tables were presumably occupied by ghosts.

No great problem: Buckingham is on the doorstop and there in this typical English market town we found a really warm welcome in typical Italian style.
